Who is ShadowHart?
Hey, I'm Richard! I started ShadowHart in 2022 when some songs about my friends became popular in local bars. I quickly realized I had a knack for writing catchy pop punk choruses, so I decided to hop in the studio and share my stories and experiences with everyone else. Inspired by bands like All Time Low and Yellowcard, my music celebrates the power of genuine friendship, reminding people that love isn't just about romance.
I grew up studying music and got my start as an artist in New Mexico playing acoustic shows on the weekends. I joined a metal band and later fronted an emo cover band that led me to start producing my own music, and now I'm based in Oklahoma City. I'm a classically trained jazz musician with a passion for punk rock, so you may find some exciting orchestrations in my songs. I play every instrument except the drums in my tracks.
I've never been signed to a label, but saying I'm 100% independent isn't true either. Over the past 4 years, I've met some incredible people and built an awesome team to help me bring ShadowHart to life. Hopefully soon I'll be able to tour with a live band, but for now we're sticking to the studio until I can release another album.

The Story behind ShadowHart
ShadowHart, AKA Richard Nelson born in 1994, is a solo pop punk musician and producer, making his debut in the music industry and redefining the meaning of versatility. Growing up in a musical family, he learned guitar from his father when he was just 8 years old. During his teenage years, he taught himself electric guitar, bass, and piano while simultaneously becoming one of the top jazz musicians in the state of Tennessee. He continued to study, write, and perform music diligently in college at Auburn University while completing a Bachelor's of Aerospace Engineering. He now holds a Master's of Music Technology from Southern Utah University with an emphasis in Performance.
ShadowHart's professional music career began in Clovis, New Mexico, as a solo acoustic guitarist and singer. There he fostered a reputation as a versatile guitarist capable of incorporating electronics, loops, and improvisation to replicate nearly any popular song on request.
ShadowHart's knowledge of engineering mechanics coupled with his musical passion allows him to create and transform entirely unique sounds. He used his software experience to build an online platform under the ShadowHart name with Tshirts, Stickers, and even his own website.
ShadowHart's debut single, "A Song About A Girl" released on June 1st, 2023. Entirely self-recorded, produced, and promoted, "A Song About A Girl" embraces the heavy guitar riffs and catchy hooks associated with early-2000s pop punk and emo. ShadowHart's first EP - "Brother" released in December 2023 further expands on the pop punk genre with driving 7-string guitar riffs and upbeat, inspiring lyrics. The following April, his second EP "Adult Money" was released, embracing more fun lyrics appealing to young adults. Most recently, ShadowHart released a massive 16-song album in collaboration with JakeMakesMetal, setting a new standard for alternative rock with orchestral scores, polyrhythms, and magnificent guitar riffs that give the listener no choice but to headbang.
